Funny Kid Stuf

8/26/2011
One day, a few months ago, we were playing outside and Samantha ran in the house saying she needed to poop. So when she came out, I, being the loving and caring mother, asked her if she pooped. She responded with something like, "No, my poop was shy. And the discussion is over," with a wave of her hand. Haha! They really do repeat you and copy everything you say and do!

This past Tuesday we were about to eat dinner and Sam wanted juice, but I told her she could only drink water with dinner. I told her to go out to the fridge and get a small bottle of water and come to the table. She came back with a Capri Sun, and I said, "That's not water." She said very seriously, "I changed my mind." :) Love that girl. I was trying so hard not to laugh. I gave in and let her have a little bit.

More of Sam's words/pronunciations:

Damingo = Flamingo
Mingos or Bingos = Mangos

Sam's Words

Just wanted to write down a few words Sam says that are soooo funny, I never want to forget:

Dumpy Dumpy = Humpty Dumpty
awape = awake (she uses "t's" and "p's" for "c's" and "k's")
my power = tower
polta bots = polka dots
oh no polar bears! = let's hide, the polar bears are coming to get us! sooo cute. daddy taught her that. And she thinks Care Bears are polar bears.

She always wants me to sing Chipmunks song "Off to See the World" and she knows almost all the words. I'll have to catch it on video soon. She is the sweetest girl, I love her so much!

First Sewing Project - "Recycle, Reduce, Reuse" Onesie Dress

A friend is having a baby girl and she's a huge fan of "going green" so I decided I would try my hand at this 10 Minute Onesie Dress with a cute little recycled onesie and some adorable circle fabric that I've had waiting to be used. I dusted off my mother-in-law's sewing machine that I've borrowed indefinitely and cleaned out a space in my office and started cutting! I also made a matching burp cloth from Prudent Baby's DIY Burp Cloth tutorial and it looks pretty darn cute! Hope she agrees! No, I didn't make the headband, but I'm sure you can find a DIY link to make one yourself!

New Journey

A year ago today I ran a half marathon. I was at the peak of my physical and mental health. I was happy, charged, energetic, getting fitter everyday...until I hit a wall. After that run, I don't know what happened, but I've been in a funk ever since. Well, "Today is a new day" - Chicken Little.

I've realized I need a goal, I need to get some life in my life. So, my goal is to be fulfilled and be happy and be a better person for my kids. I have three goals at this time: 1) Read the Bible (NT) in 40 days. 2) Finish one sewing project every month. 3) Have the cleanest house on the block. I will never succeed in #3 because of my neighbor but I will try every day.

This past weekend has been my best weekend in a long time. I did two things: read a book about something important that I enjoy learning about, not just a novel; and I cleaned out my office and started a few sewing projects. Which came out pretty dang cute if I do say so myself. So, goodbye old sad self, hello happiness!
